Ask Ashlee: I'm Not The Person They Use To Know!

Dear Ask Ashlee,

I have recently tapped into the entrepreneurial world with my crafting business. I have invested money into my business, researched the market about my business and I feel like I am really prepared for success. My issue is that I wasn’t always this person and people are constantly bringing up the old me. I have friends and family that talk down to me and tell me that I need to be realistic about my goals with this business. They actually call it a hobby that makes me a little side money, but I want it to be so much more than that. Do you have any advice for pushing past what other people think when you are starting a business? I keep getting in my head about it and I just want to try. I have made a lot of changes in my life from the person I used to be.

A New Me

Dear A New Me,

So here’s the thing, you can change every single thing you don’t like about yourself, but if you don’t change the people around you along the way, you will end up in the same spot. I love that you have done the research, I love that you have invested in yourself, but as you continue to grow and elevate to your best self you have to let go of some of that dead weight you are holding onto. Whether this is friends or family, you have to place people where they are in your life. When you are in business for yourself, there is only so much you can do and only so far you can elevate if your personal life is a mess. The same efforts you have put in place for your business, you will need to put those same efforts into your personal life. Do your research regarding the people in your life. Who speaks life into you? Who believes in you and supports what you are doing? Think about your relationship with those people and pour back into those relationships. Everybody else will eventually just scatter or fall below the waist line. You know the saying, “everybody can’t go to the top with you”? This is true and you are entering a new season in your life, be careful who you let around you and whose words you accept as your truth. I hope this helps.

Love & Light,

Ash
